The Barton County Health Department's mission is to prevent disease and promote healthy residents.  As such, Public Health strives to:

  • Prevent epidemics and the spread of disease

  • Protect against environmental hazards

  • Prevent injuries

  • Promote and encourage healthy behaviors 

  • Respond to disasters and assist communities in recovery

  • Assure the quality and accessibility of health services

To achieve these goals, the Barton County Health Department provides numerous services and makes referrals to health care providers within the community through a variety of programs.

Email has become a regular means of communication.  While the County urges you to contact officials with questions, Open Records Requests should be made via the telephone or in person.  We ask that citizens remember that email is normally monitored during regular office hours.  However, training and other scheduled events often take personnel away from immediate access to their email accounts.
